Trust & moderation policy
How our reviews work
Consumer reviews are only useful if you can trust that they are real, unbought, and unsuppressed. Here is exactly how we handle them.
Four layers, kept separate
Every product page keeps four things visibly apart: the issuer’s official terms, our independent editorial analysis, structured consumer-experience data, and individual consumer reviews. We never blend these into a single unexplained score, and we always label which is which.
What we verify
Reviews can carry verification levels — email verified, product-relationship verified, current or former customer, documentation reviewed, company response received, and resolved or unresolved. These labels are based on documented criteria, and we never overstate certainty. Verification is optional for ordinary participation.
What we never ask for
You never need to connect a bank account or credit report to write a review. We do not request or store full card numbers, full account numbers, Social Security numbers, online banking passwords, or credit-bureau logins. If you choose to upload optional evidence, redact it first — our system also checks for exposed personal information, strips image metadata, encrypts it, restricts access, and deletes it on a schedule.
Our non-negotiable rules
- No fake, seeded, or AI-spam reviews. No invented ratings.
- No pay-to-remove and no pay-to-improve. Advertising never affects ratings, ranking, moderation, or review visibility.
- Companies can claim a profile and respond publicly, and can request factual corrections with sources — but they cannot delete reviews, reorder them, hide criticism, or require review removal as a condition of resolving your issue.
- We follow the FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, which prohibits fake or deceptive reviews and certain review-suppression practices.
- We do not display averages or percentages from samples too small to be meaningful, and we always show the sample size.
Moderation
Reviews pass through automated signals plus human moderation before publishing. We do not rely on automation alone for consequential decisions, we maintain moderation audit logs, and there is an appeal process. A review is not a legal finding — where an issue involves a lawsuit, a court deadline, or an unresolved credit-reporting dispute, we point you to official resources and, where appropriate, a qualified professional.
Status: launching
The review submission and moderation service is being connected. Until it is live, the review form on product pages is a working preview that does not store submissions. We would rather ship an honest “coming soon” than seed a single fake review.
Educational information — not advice
This page provides general educational information about credit, debt, and consumer protections. It is not legal advice, financial advice, or credit repair services, and reading it does not create any professional relationship. Laws, procedures, deadlines, and dollar amounts vary by state and change over time.
