Licenses & Disclosures

Some financial-education sites hold lending licenses, generate leads, or sell your information. We don’t do any of that. This page states plainly what Credit Defense Hub is, what it is not, and what happens with a link when you click it.

What this site is

Credit Defense Hub is an educational publisher. We research, write, and publish plain-English information about credit reports, credit repair, debt collection, debt lawsuits, bankruptcy, and rebuilding credit, sourced from primary law and official government guidance wherever possible (see our editorial standards). That is the entire business: publishing information, plus — where a real partnership exists — earning advertising and affiliate revenue from links to other companies’ products. We hold no consumer financial license of any kind, described in full below.

What we are not licensed as, and do not do

We are stating this as a complete list, not a sample, because a reader deciding whether to trust a number on this Site deserves to know exactly what kind of company is publishing it:

  • We are not a mortgage broker or lender, and we hold no NMLS registration or Unique Identifier. We do not have a number to disclose because we have never registered for one — we do not originate, broker, underwrite, fund, or service mortgages or any other loans.
  • We are not a licensed lender or loan broker of any kind — not for mortgages, personal loans, auto loans, or any other consumer credit product, in any state.
  • We are not a registered credit services organization or credit repair organization. We do not charge for, perform, or offer to perform credit repair services, and we do not dispute anything on your credit reports on your behalf. Our credit-repair content teaches you how the process works and how to do it yourself, for free.
  • We are not a law firm and do not practice law. Nothing on this Site is legal advice, and no page creates an attorney-client relationship. See our Terms of Use and disclaimer.
  • We are not a financial advisor, investment adviser, or tax professional and hold no license or registration in any of those categories.
  • We are not a marketing lead generator. We do not collect your information to sell or transfer it to lenders, card issuers, or any other company as a “lead.” A card or loan link on this Site either goes straight to that company’s own official page, or — where a real affiliate partnership exists — is a tracked referral link that pays us only if you’re later approved by that company directly. Either way, no application, financial, or contact information you enter ever passes through us to reach a lender.

Trademarks and third-party names

All third-party company names, brand names, logos, and product names appearing on this site are trademarks or registered trademarks of their respective owners. They are used here nominatively — for identification and editorial commentary only. This use does not imply any affiliation, sponsorship, partnership, or endorsement in either direction, and we make no claim of ownership over any third-party mark. Seeing a company’s name, logo, or product mentioned in a review, comparison, or guide on this Site — including any of the categories listed above — is not evidence of a license, partnership, or affiliate relationship; see our disclaimer and Terms of Use for the same statement in full context.

Photographs of people on this site

The photographs of people on our homepage and guide pages are licensed stock photography, published by their photographers under the Unsplash License. They are illustrative. The people pictured are models and photographers’ subjects — they are not customers, readers, reviewers, staff, or anyone who has used this Site, and nothing about them should be read as an endorsement or a result. We caption every one with the photographer’s name and the word “illustrative” so that this is visible on the page itself, not only here.

We make no lending decisions and receive no application data

This Site does not take loan or card applications. It cannot approve, deny, or influence any credit decision — every approval or denial is made entirely by the issuer or lender you apply with, using their own criteria, on their own website. We never see your Social Security number, income, application answers, or credit-check results, because none of that is ever submitted to us in the first place.

The affiliate model, as it stands today

We have built the disclosure architecture for an affiliate-supported model, and we’re honest that today it is architecture, not revenue: zero of our 29 tracked partner slots are active. Every card and lender link on this Site currently points at that company’s own official page, with no tracking parameter and no commission attached. We would rather describe our business model accurately, at zero, than round up to sound more established than we are. The full mechanics — how a link is marked, and the structural firewall that keeps money from ever influencing content — are in our advertiser disclosure.

A partnership can never move a rating, ranking, or warning

Card scores, category rankings, and placement on our buyer-beware list are set by a published, versioned rating methodology using numeric, public thresholds — decided before any partnership exists, and with no field anywhere in that scoring code for “is this issuer a partner.” A company cannot pay, partner, or advertise its way to a higher score, a better rank, or off the buyer-beware list. If you ever find a case where that appears untrue, please tell us — that would be a bug in our published rules, not a hidden feature of them.

How to report an error

If something on this page, or anywhere else on the Site, is inaccurate or out of date, please contact us with the page URL and what’s wrong. Corrections to legal or licensing statements are treated as high priority.

Geographic scope

This Site publishes information about United States federal and state consumer- protection law — including the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and the federal Bankruptcy Code — and is intended for readers in the United States. It does not describe the law of any other country, and nothing here should be relied on outside the U.S.

Business identity

Credit Defense Hub is published by [ENTITY LEGAL NAME — owner to complete], located at [BUSINESS ADDRESS — owner to complete]. Phone: [PHONE — owner to complete]. We have left these as visible placeholders rather than invent an address or number that isn’t real — see contact for the way to reach us today.

Educational information — not advice

This page provides general educational information about credit, debt, and consumer protections. It is not legal advice, financial advice, or credit repair services, and reading it does not create any professional relationship. Laws, procedures, deadlines, and dollar amounts vary by state and change over time.

For advice about your specific situation, consult a licensed attorney or qualified financial professional. See our full disclaimer.
